Welcome to GPCS!
If you are asking these questions for yourself or your child...
"Why do I feel sad, stressed, or anxious all the time?"
"How do I stop overthinking everything?"
"What is the "normal" progression of grief and loss?"
"How do I navigate relationships at school, home, or work?"
"Why am I so hard on myself?"
...you are not alone nor in need of fixing. You are taking a courageous first step in identifying thought and behavioral patterns, accompanying physical and emotional symptoms, and in developing strategies to emerge and thrive.
At Golden Paws Counseling Services, I offer in-person, virtual (Texas residents), and animal-assisted counseling for children, adolescents, teens, and adults. I am a Texas LPC Supervisor (LPC-S), as well.
I am neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed, and capitalize on the strengths of ADHD'ers, those "on the spectrum," and highly sensitive clients. This includes providing support for accompanying anxiety and social challenges, identifying and navigating big feelings, and gaining skills for achieving nervous system and emotional regulation.
Cultivating relationships while setting appropriate boundaries may require gaining and practicing a new skill set. Additionally, life's transitions and changes can be challenging and stressful for us all, as we attempt to maintain balance and redefine our "new normal." In companioning and helping clients identify and move through these waves of emotions, I believe there are opportunities to build resilience.
I use Solution-Focused Counseling and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques, meeting clients where they are. Providing a safe, warm, and nonjudgemental environment that celebrates clients' unique strengths is the foundation of my work. I believe in a collaborative approach, whether with clients, parents, schools, or other providers you may have. While our time spent during therapy is important and sacred, I believe that practical application outside of therapy is paramount.
